The Sense and Sensibility residence, designed by Yu-Lin Shih, is a testament to the merging of different aesthetics and the breaking of boundaries. The interior design echoes the piano keys, creating a harmonious blend of elements. Earth tones bring a sense of warmth and grounding, while the purity of white adds brightness and expansiveness to the space. The abundance of Nile blue distinctively partitions the areas, giving each its own unique character. The simplicity of colors brings out the beauty of boldness without becoming overwhelming.
Pushing open the door, one is immediately greeted by the clarity and richness of the Nile blue, which draws a clear line between the private and public spaces. The contrasting black and white elements in the living room create a sense of order and cleanliness. Black hollowed-out partitions soften the sharpness and play with light and shadow. The softness of the furnishings and warm colors create a soothing atmosphere, allowing residents to relax and unwind.
The Sense and Sensibility residence spans 149 square meters and is a testament to the designer's attention to detail and technical prowess. The meticulous placement of silvery and golden beams of light on the tiles and wooden floor adds a touch of elegance and sophistication. The piano keys, which echo throughout the interior design, create a seamless integration of different aesthetics. The colors and materials used in the design draw lines and define the function and atmosphere of each area.
This project was completed in May 2020 in Taiwan, and it showcases the designer's extensive research and understanding of creating spaces that promote calmness and tidiness. The design prioritizes the user's needs and experiences while building an aesthetic that is both functional and visually pleasing. By leaving blank spaces for the owner to personalize, the residence offers endless possibilities for a fulfilling and joyful life.
The Sense and Sensibility residence has overcome creative, technical, and research challenges to create a space that balances sensibility and clarity of mind. The simplicity of the design, with its clean lines and gentle wood veins, allows the colors and materials to take center stage. The balance between dark and bright elements creates a calm and uncluttered consciousness. The spaciousness of the residence provides ample room for thoughts to breathe and ideas to flourish.
The Sense and Sensibility residence, designed by Yu-Lin Shih, is a testament to the power of thoughtful design. It has been recognized for its excellence and innovation, receiving the Iron A' Design Award in 2022 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award is given to designs that meet professional and industrial requirements while providing fulfillment and positive feelings. The Sense and Sensibility residence truly contributes to a better world through its integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics.
